The Door Of Hope Ministry Staff

Jason Schlabach, originally from Ohio, is the director and founder of Door of Hope and the pastor of Foothills Community Chapel in Columbus, NC.  He and his wife, Fern, have five children:  Landon (16), Heather (14), Reece (12), Destinee (10), and Paige (7).  They live in Columbus, NC.

Steve Stutzman is a new member of Door of Hope. This Iowa farm boy-turned-counselor has proved to be an interesting and entertaining addition to the staff. Steve is a teacher at heart and is one of the primary speakers at the Take Back Your Life Conferences. He also does counseling on a part-time basis when he's not on the road singing with the family. As our field representative, Steve is joined in this ministry by his wife, Dorcas, and 5 children: Tanisha (17), Gianna (15), Jevan (14), Jalon (10), and Karina (4). The Stutzman family is in the process of re-locating to North Carolina.  They are also trying to raise money for a bus to travel in. Your prayers on these matters are extremely valued and appreciated.

Marlin and Liz Yoder moved from Lancaster, PA, to Landrum, SC, in September 2002.  Marlin is a counselor on a part time basis and has begun to teach some in the Take Back Your Life Conferences. We very much value Marlin and Liz in the ministry and in the community. They have two children, Nicholas (4) and Kenya (2).  Kenya was diagnosed with biliary atresia and was in and out of the hospital many times after her birth.  She received a liver transplant on October 16, 2004 and is now home and doing well.

Rob Painter, from Tryon, NC, helps out with counseling at the office several days a week. Rob is one of the main speakers and leads worship at the Take Back Your Life Conferences, and brings a quality to the table that only Rob is capable of. Rob is currently the Youth Pastor at Foothills Community Church, and the overseer of the YOUTH Take Back Your Life Conferences.  He and his wife, Pam, have two sons, Nelson and Caleb.

Bruce and Ruthie Lengeman are the newest addition to the crew here at Door of Hope. They have 9 children, including 2 married daughters, one married son, a couple grown children out and about serving the Lord, and a houseful of beautiful daughters. Bruce is a character that the Take Back Your Life Conferences wouldn't be the same without. Bruce and Ruthie have a 501 C-3 organization, The Leadership Foundation, and do financial counseling when they aren't enlisted by Door of Hope for teaching.

Joe Miller is also a counselor for Door of Hope a few days a week. He has used his gifting and passion to help people within the ministry as called upon the past 4 to 5 years. Joe has been a great resource to the ministry for almost as long as the ministry has been around. The confidence that we can have in Joe, and the anointing in his life to come along side of people and help them connect with God has been a blessing. He and his wife Christine live in Easley, SC, and they have 4 boys and 2 girls; all of which are married except for the two youngest boys. They are also the proud spoilers of 14 grandchildren! :)

Evangeline Troyer returned to North Carolina from Plain City, OH, in September 2004 and works as secretary in the office. Vange is now engaged to be married to Merle Stoltzfus. The wedding date has been set for May! We'll miss Vange and her secretarial skills. Prayer that God would send us another secretary is needed.

Julia Miller arrived in October 2005 from Hutchinson, KS, to work as secretary and help with the Hannah House. We are pleased that Julia will be staying with us another year, as she is a vital part of this ministry, as well as a prayer warrior in her faith. God gave us a blessing when he sent us Julia Ruth! :)
