Ruth chapters 1 and 2 are all about Ruth picking up scraps in a field that isn't hers, serving a mother-in-law who told her to go home, and she stayed anyway. That's the gleaning season.
It looks small, it feels thankless, but it's building something in her that she can't see yet.
